Lady Lea started DJing 15 years ago using old cd players, then moved on to vinyl one and a half years later. Lady Lea is now playing on both cd players and vinyl.
Lady Lea's first residency was at DNA in Pretoria, and then got a 2nd residency at ESP in Johannesburg. Since then Lady Lea has been DJing around the world at various clubs, parties, raves, corporate events, fashion shows, festivals, parades, and sports games. Lady Lea arrived back in 2003 from spinning in top clubs in the U.K, and working in the world’s top music retail store – HMV, as a singles and vinyl buyer.
In May 2009, Lady Lea launched the female DJ agency, Divas on Decks. Originally, Lady Lea was part of a group with 3 female DJs called Divas on Decks. Lady Lea is the only diva from the group still DJing full time, therefore Lady Lea has started the Divas on Decks group and agency, which now consists of the best South African female DJs in South Africa and around the world. Lady Lea formed the agency in order to promote, protect, and book female DJs out to gigs that will suit their music and style, as well as having Divas on Decks parties, albums and tours. Being a versatile house DJ, Lady Lea plays house music ranging from electro, funky, deep, tech, minimal and progressive house.
In early 2009, Lady Lea also added Drum ‘n Bass to her repertoire and when playing this style of music is known under the alias “Crazy Lady”. Lady Lea will always play the right type of groove for the right type of club, and Lady Lea has a lot of experience with the South African market in particular. In mid 2009 Lady Lea also started her own record label, Beat Boutique, which has already had 2 successful album releases – Divas on Decks Vol. 1 Mixed by Lady Lea and Divas on Decks Vol. 2 Mixed by Tune Raider. Lady Lea also appeared on television as a contestant on M-Net’s Survivor SA: Santa Carolina – Celebrity Edition in early 2010.
Lady Lea has been a guest DJ at most clubs in all major cities in and around South Africa, as well as in various parts of the world. Lady Lea did European tours in October 2006, July 2008 & July 2009 which included Amsterdam, Ibiza and the UK. In 2007 she played at the German Love Parade to over 1.2 million people, as well as at the ICC T20 World Cup Cricket matches.
Currently, Lady Lea is one of the most booked DJ’s in South Africa. Lady Lea has had over 20 residencies, and has been a guest DJ at almost every club in South Africa. Lady Lea is professional, experienced and she always gets a good crowd response. Lady Lea blends old and new sounds to create that sound that is unique to Lady Lea.
