PJ Powers was born in Durban South Africa but hails from Johannesburg. In 1987 female Celebrity Singer PJ Powers began her solo career, and fast became well recognised in the music scene. In 1998 PJ Powers got banned from radio and TV by the apartheid government for a year. It was in this time that PJ Powers adopted the name Thandeka, which means the loved one. PJ Powers is a multi talented entertainer. PJ Powers has been performing for many years and has performed for some VIP's like Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton and Oprah Whinfrey. PJ Powers has performed at various venues around the world including South Africa.
PJ Powers has had huge success in her time of performance some of them being the Fifa Fan Fest in Tswana where she performed to a crowd of 25000 people, and the inauguration of Nelson Mandela. PJ Powers also performed at the 1995 rugby world cup to millions of people together with Ladysmith Black Mambazo. They collaborated to sing the song 'World in Union'. PJ Powers is one of the most recognised artists in South Africa today with an extensive history in South African music. PJ Powers is a class act and works well at any function.
