Dave Monks is a Irish Musician based in Umhlanga, Natal. Dave Monks can perform as a 1 man band or with the famous Leprechauns. Irish musician Dave Monks has been performing in South Africa and internationally for over four decades. Dave monks has performed at at weddings, parties, bars, concerts, corporate functions and many more. Dave Monks has a repetoire that consists of Irish favourites, Pop, Reggae, Country, Rock & Roll and party songs.
Dave is also a voice over artist and can be heard on many radio adverts. Dave is an accomplished songwriter and session musician. Over the years, Dave has written songs various artists including “The Leprechauns”. Many of these songs and jingles have been featured on national Television and Radio stations. When performing in South Africa, Dave is totally self-sufficient. Dave boasts a state of the art sound system, an On-stage lighting system, as well as the on-board “Sham-Rock Disco”. Dave Monks keeps his fan base happy with his unique music ,that is so different from the other country bands.

One Man Irish Band
For many years Dave has been performing his celebrated One Man Show in several countries. Since Dave arrived in South Africa in 1975, he has toured Southern Africa including countries like Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Namibia and Swaziland. Dave also perfomed on various ship cruises and for several months in South Korea. Dave Monks recently completed four successful summer seasons entertaining in The Algarve, Portugal.
The Miami Show Band
Having toured Ireland and the UK during the late 1960’s playing music with various Pop and Rock Bands, Dave Monks was head-hunted in 1973 and offered a position in Ireland’s premier group “The Miami Showband” as lead guitarist. Dave Monks got involved with "The Miami Showband" as lead guitarist and in 1974. This popular show reached the number one spot in the Irish Pop Charts with their massive hit "Clap your hands and Stomp your feet". Dave enjoyed years of fame with the “The Miami Showband” which made regular appearances on TV and radio. "The Miami ShowBand" was featured in most music magazines along with other famous rock bands of the day.
In 1975, Dave headed off to South Africa and bid farewell to “The Miami Showband”.
The Leprechauns
Dave Monks has a new Irish Band called "The Leprechauns" which is a big success. "The Leprechauns" includes Dave Monks and two glamorous girls as members of the Irish band. The addition of these 2 amazing female vocalists make the Leprechauns a top class act. This group never seems to stop ‘wowing’ audiences wherever they perform. “The Leprechauns” with their infectious and very catchy foot-tapping music and Irish charm have become a roaring success in South Africa.
