The highlight for Saving Silence was when they got involved in the Christmas party arranged for the New Jerusalem Home for Abandoned Children by Emerging Sounds. It was a day to remember and the children making an impact on every band member. Saving Silence is committed to showing their enthusiasm and support for various charities, by performing and drawing in the crowds.

Danie: Lead Vocals, keyboards, acoustic guitars and jembe drums . He is the front man for the band and so far has written all of the songs, lyrics and music, for the band but they are currently working on new material together which is helping the music develope beyond their expectations. Danie is a self taught musician and started playing keyboards at the age of 16. His love of music started at the age of 4.

His mother remembers him sitting spellbound in front of the TV watching anything from classical music to Jazz. Danie was born to do this and will strive to be a success in the music industry as a musician and as a song writer. Chris: Guitar and backing vocals. He started playing guitar at the age of 6. He has played in numerous bands including the cover band New Gecko. He then joined the band Slide with Tyronne Morris (Saron Gas). Slide got second place in Emerging Sounds competition. They also appeared on Kyknet.

Then they formed another band called Saltmine. Prior to joining Saving Silence he was with Drop Dead Gorgeous. Chris is an awesome musician and when him and danie sing together the whole room stares in amazement. Jarrod: Guitar. Jarrod is the only one who has had any formal training, he started playing guitar at the age of 15 after his uncle gave him his first guitar. He not only loves music, he absolutely lives for it and this shows in the way he drives the band.

He has played in several bands to date. Tracy: Bass Guitar. Tracy started playing the electric guitar from the age of 13 and is self taught. She played for the all girl punk rock band, Hoodwink. After the band split up she joined Saving Silence and has proven that she is a great addition to the band

The five-5 piece pop rock outfit have been doing cover gigs for as long as everyone can remember and now they finally have an album out featuring their own, original material. At first listen, the songs sound a bit monotonous but after a few listens, the songs and the band really start to grow on you. This may be due to the genius of Ziggy (Prime Circle, Cutting Jade) behind the mixing and mastering of the album. The title track “Open Up Your Eyes” has been on radio and has really created a nice buzz for the band, while other tracks such as “It’s You” and “Here With Me” are extremely radio-friendly tracks that are sure to be heard across the nation. All in all, this debut release is a nice start for a band on the scene and fans will be delighted at the effort and musicianship in the music. If you want pretty songs to charm your girlfriend to, then check this out, but if you want something a bit different to what’s already out there, then maybe give this one a skip.

SAVING SILENCE is a premier pop rock band from Johannesburg, South Africa. The band signed a major worldwide recording and publishing deal with The David Gresham Record Company. David Gresham Records, best known for breaking local acts such as Prime Circle, Wonderboom, Cutting Jade and most recently Jesse Clegg. The band caught the ear of the Gresham execs after submitting a strong collection of demos that they wanted to record for an album.

SAVING SILENCE have been in studio recording their debut album for over a year, working with legendary SAMA nominated producer Ziggy (best known for his work with Prime Circle) and Michael Naranjo of “One Day Remains” fame. A lot of the band’s focus was spent on writing songs that would appeal to their existing fans while attracting new ones globally. The band was presented at this year’s MIDEM Music Conference held in Cannes, France and was met with great enthusiasm from international labels and A&R executives.

SAVING SILENCE are Danie Carolus on lead Vocals, acoustic Guitar, keyboard and jembe drums, Jacques Ceronio on electric guitar and vocals, the ultra sexy Tracy Oosthuizen on bass guitar, Jarrod Tomlin on lead guitar and Roger Erian on drums. The young rockers have defined a unique and fresh sound that sets them apart from any other South African band. Best known for their energetic and exciting live shows setting crowds alight nationwide, SAVING SILENCE are one of the hardest working acts in South Africa playing between 4 to 8 shows a week.

The first single from their debut album ‘Open Up Your Eyes’ was written during the Gresham demo sessions and was immediately picked up by the A&R team at the record company as the hit song to launch the band. This unique song highlights lead singer, Danie Carolus’ strong yet smooth radio voice backed up by the blend of Chris Baumann’s backing vocals and Jarrod Tomlin’s eccentric style of guitar playing mixed with the foundation of Tracy Oosthuizen’s groove conscious bass and Roger Erian’s solid drumming.

SAVING SILENCE are bound to be South Africa’s new ‘it’ band for 2010. Be sure to keep an ear and eye out for them.

SAVING SILENCE’s debut album will be available 1 September 2010
